J. Clark Weddell Scholarship

Scholarship Background:


Established in 2003 this scholarship is a legacy to Clark's service, dedication, and promotion of the APICS vision in Durham Region. A founder of the Durham Chapter in 1990 and an active volunteer, Clark was appointed APICS Ambassador for Region VIII (Canada) in 1998, elected Executive Vice-President of the Region in 1999, APICS Vice-President for Region VIII (Canada) 2001- 2002, and serves as APICS Ambassador for Region VIII in 2003.

Always willing to offer assistance and support, Clark has been a key contributor to the organization and a mentor to us all.


Award Criteria:


Any member of the Durham College APICS Student Chapter may apply for the scholarship. The Student Chapter Faculty Advisor is responsible for forwarding the applications no later than April 15th of each year. A panel of judges appointed by the APICS Durham Chapter Board of Directors will review all applications. The panel determines the winner, if any, by May 1st of the same year. The recipient will be invited to attend the Durham Chapter Awards Presentation night in May (date to be announced).


Candidates must:
· Be a full-time student with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.25
· Be a member in good standing of the Durham College Student Chapter of APICS
· Have demonstrated an exceptional level of APICS involvement.

Consideration will be given for: Community Service, Volunteer work, or School related activities.


Awards: (1) $500.00
It should be noted that in times when there are only enough nominations to cover the number of prizes offered, no submission should automatically qualify for a prize without having sufficient merit.

This application is to be filled out by the Faculty Advisor of the program at Durham College.  It is not to be filled in by the actual Student.

The Faculty Advisor will certify that the applicant is a full-time student who meets the scholarship criteria as outlined and demonstrates an exceptional level of APICS involvement.

Include comments on community service, volunteer work, and / or school related activities.

 

 

Award Criteria: The Faculty Advisor is responsible for submitting the applications to this form by April 15th.


A panel of judges will review all applications, ranking them in each of the following areas: academic performance, ASC / APICS involvement, community service, leadership skills. Scores will be tabulated and winners, if any, determined by the May 1st, and presented at the Durham Chapter Awards Ceremony on the 3rd Tuesday of May
