Testing on Testing - CPIM
In order to earn the CPIM designation, it is necessary for the candidate to successfully pass an independently administered examination for each of the five CPIM study modules (5 exams total):
ü Basics of Supply Chain Management ü Master Planning of Resources ü Detailed Scheduling and Planning ü Execution and Control of Operations ü Strategic Management of Resources
We strongly encourage individuals who are in pursuit of the CPIM accreditation to prepare themselves for exams by enrolling in our CPIM exam preparation courses. Details on these may be found in the Education section of Durham’s web site www.apics-durham.org , and on our home page. Alternative means of preparation, such as self-study and distance education programs, are also available to candidates – please visit www.apics.org for information on these options.
APICS examinations are administered by Pearson VUE, an objective arms-length provider of testing facilities. Through the world’s leading test center network, Pearson VUE delivers more than 4 million high-stakes exams per year for clients in licensure certification, regulatory testing, and academic admissions.
Important information regarding Computer-Bases Testing (CBT) for APICS CPIM examinations may be obtained by ordering the CPIM Certification Bulletin (stock # 09053V2010) from APICS Customer Service 1-800-444-2742.
We strongly suggest that candidates purchase a current copy of the CPIM Exam Content Manual (stock # 09051V2010) from APICS Customer Service or on line at www.apics.org. (Price = $36.00 USD for non-members, $24.00 USD for members, plus HST). This manual contains a wealth of information, terminology, and study guidelines.
Registration fees for exams in Canada are as follows:
APICS Members: $120 USD Nonmembers: $155 USD Plus HST (in Ontario, BC, and the Maritimes)
Occasionally, Durham and Kawartha APCS Chapters partner to provide pencil-and-paper testing (also called Group testing). Contact us or watch our web site for details.
Candidates must first obtain an APICS Customer Number in order to register for an exam. If the candidate is an APICS member, the Customer Number is your Member Number. Non-members should obtain a customer number from APICS Customer Service, and use this number throughout the learning process.
Candidates may then register through the Pearson VUE link provided at apics.org/certification, or by calling Pearson VUE Customer Care (see below). Registration closes 4 days before any given exam date (dates vary by location) and may be made as much as 90 days prior to the exam date. On site payment is not allowed. The candidate must pay the fee at the time of registration.
Exams for most APICS CPIM modules consist of 75 questions (in the case of Basics of SCM, 105 questions are asked, with 25 of these being pretest questions. (Pretest questions do not count towards your score, but are necessary for research purposes.) Candidates are given three (3) hours to complete each exam. In the case of CBT exams, candidates are given their result (pass/fail, score, and diagnostic) immediately upon completion.
